Custom 20x30 Hip Roof Commercial Awning for an Industrial Facility

A lot of commercial facilities have outdoor break areas that are basically just exposed concrete. No shade, no protection from rain - just an open slab with some picnic tables baking in the sun. Workers end up skipping breaks or cramming inside because there's nowhere comfortable to actually step away. That's a real problem, and it's one we see all the time.

For this facility, the solution was a custom 20' x 30' freestanding hip roof commercial awning. The hip roof design - where all four sides slope downward from a central peak - does a better job shedding rain runoff than a flat or single-slope cover. It also holds up well under wind load, which matters a lot at an open commercial site like this one.

The structure itself is built on a heavy steel post frame with a full internal rafter system. That framework supports the roof evenly across the entire span, which is what allows us to cover that much open space without any interior posts cutting into the usable area underneath. The result is a clean, open covered space that fits multiple picnic tables comfortably.
